Blackberry Cottage Extension

This application for an extensive home extension & renovation in Ashby De La Zouch had to go to the planning committee to be signed off. Comments from members were passed on from David at Andrew Large Surveyors Ltd, who attended & spoke at the meeting and also managed the application.

Henderson Planning & Design Ltd were  instructed for the provision of all Architectural plans and 3D renders and we are really happy this project finally got the outcome we were hoping for! 

The site had its challenges, such as there being no options on where the private and secure parking could be located without adversely effecting the configuration of the proposed extension, and the views out to the garden. 

This project was not only designed to bring modern size, open plan living accommodation to a large, but narrow house. Henderson Planning & Design Ltd were also instructed to increase the size and functionality of the existing rooms, without compromising on the character of the property and requiring too much internal configuration, amounting to unnecessary additional cost.

Changes to the existing property included:

• Removing the existing Bay windows which were considered detrimental to the appearance of the front of the property.
• Knocking through into the upstairs landing to increase the size of 2 bedrooms.
• Replacing & upgrading the properties porch.

These changes were in addition to the large extension which increased the properties footprint by over 165m², and provided an extension to the garage which will accommodate a home Gym.
